Solar Well Pumps for Plots Irrigation

Project Location: Suburb of Bayan Nur City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region


Project Introduction: Bayan Nur City is a booming city in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, it locates in Wulate grassland with abundant sunshine and heat, scarce rainfall, big evaporation and strong sand storms. The local agriculture is based primarily on wheat, corn, oil sunflower, confectionery sunflower, beet and watermelon. Even though the place is near Yellow River basin, but it's still short of water in some areas. To solve the problem, the Bayan Nur Institute of Water Conservancy introduced a Solartech PS370 Solar well pump System to apply the analyst research of agricultural irrigation.


Solution: In 2012, the Bayan Nur Institute of  Water Conservancy introduced a Solartech PS370 Solar Well Pump System to irrigate 2 acres of sunflower, 1 acre applied micro-irrigation, 1 acre applied drip irrigation. After a year of comparison with another 2 acres of sunflower applied flooding irrigation, the yield and income of the 2 acres adopting solar pumping technology with water saving irrigation proved to be better. Bayan Nur Institute of Water Conservancy believed that Solartech Solar Well Pump Systems will play a large role on agricultural irrigation in that region.


Economic Benefits: 1971 kWh of electricity generated annually; 18.5 tons of coal saving in its 25-year service life; 8.14 tons of CO2, 0.37 tons of SO2, 0.28 tons of smoke and 4.81 tons of ash reductions in its 25-year service life.
